 A few words about stress…

When you feel dis-empowered and your life feels like it running you, rather then you running it, most would describe themselves as feeling stressed of some description.

Stress is the biggest cause of sickness with the UK (HSE). Stress may not always be the term on the sickness note, but it is usually the underlying cause. It’s something that causes a state of strain or tension, as in “the stresses and strains of everyday life”.

Some signs of stresses and strains in the life you are living:

  • Physical: pain, body discomfort, weakness and illness.
  • Emotional: depression, anxiety, feelings of powerlessness, helplessness, not feeling good enough, negative self-talk and image.
  • Spiritual: feeling disconnected from yourself, other people and your environment,

At Inner Sanctuary you will receive information, advice and guidance that will support you physically, emotionally and spiritually to help you to grow and develop so you can feel empowered and back in control of your life.

Why wait until tomorrow when you can take charge of your life today?

It Takes The Right Kind Of Rest To Recuperate If you are feeling stressed and tired, you might find moving a little R&R to the top of your to-do list is all you need to do! Rest. Sound familiar? Do you even remember the last time you had some, like really had some? Lack of rest can lead to all sorts of complications, not just tiredness, which is when you are more likely to reach out for a pill,or blame a bigger, more complex situation for how you feel.   In all likeliness, all you need to do is to switch off.   The perils of a rest-less life If you do too much, sleep to little – you can pretty much guarantee you’ll be tired, but the knock-on effects of a life with insufficient rest multiply. You’ll start off by being more susceptible to coughs and colds, and if you don’t listen to your body at that point and get some forced rest, you’ll become prone to more serious conditions. Rest is the only state the body can heal itself in – but what is rest? Rest isn’t watching TV, but sitting daydreaming, being creative, reading, meditating, going for gentle walks.   To fully relax it is a good idea to switch all electronics off, and to feel even greater benefits it is good to meditate. Meditation encourages the whole body to rest, restore and rejuvenate.   Emotional trauma past or present, or anxiety about future events can block our ability to rest. If your emotions are getting in the way of you getting the relaxation you need...

How to deal with stress

Stress is a word that is often used but rarely understood and its role in ill health is widely underestimated. When the body takes on stress which isn’t resolved, it begins to attack the weakest area of the body. Over a period of time, this causes the body to be at ‘dis-ease’ in that area, which becomes disease. Stress is now the single biggest cause of sickness in the UK and is the body’s way of telling you it is out of balance. Where we have become ‘detached’ from our bodies and what the body is saying, we tend to reach for easily available solutions, caffeine, sugar etc. They provide ‘pick me ups’, which enhance the problem. Stressors may come from anywhere; something unresolved in our past, a work / life balance that has ‘tipped’ out of control, a personal trauma or event such as bereavement, redundancy, relationship difficulties. All of these can lead to exacerbating this stress by eating the wrong foods for your body. Signs you or someone you know maybe be experiencing stress:  Cognitive Symptoms:  * Memory problems; * Inability to concentrate; * Poor judgment; * Negativity; * Anxious or racing thoughts; * Constant worrying. Emotional Symptoms: * Moodiness; * Short temperedness; * Agitation, inability to relax; * Feeling overwhelmed; * A sense of loneliness or isolation; * Depression or general unhappiness. Physical Symptoms: * Aches and pains; * Diarrhoea or constipation; * Nausea, dizziness; * Chest pain, rapid heartbeat; * Loss of sex drive; * Frequent colds. Behavioural Symptoms: * Eating more (or less); * Sleeping too much (or too little); * Isolating yourself from others;...

Great health and wellbeing

When we feel great, we look great and we feel ready to take on the world. However, this doesn’t always happen, as daily stresses and strains take their toll on the body.  This results in us, at best, feeling under the weather or worst, having a serious condition which impacts our health. Signs that your body is out of balance: Physical: pain, discomfort, weakness and illness; Mental: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, anger, fears, negativity, lack of motivation, memory loss and learning difficulties; Spiritual: feeling disconnected from self, other people, your environment. All of these, are the body’s sophisticated, complicated way of communicating with us via a multitude of symptoms. It is the body showing you it is out of balance and is under stress. Modern medicine, will help support the body with the symptoms, but often doesn’t explore what’s causing it. By looking deeper at the body and what’s it telling you, there is a much greater chance that the body will be able to heal. To do this, the whole body needs to be explored: the emotional, physical and spiritual body. To do this, I offer a range of holistic treatments: * Kinesiology; * Indian Head Massage; * Chinese Face Massage. During our sessions together, I begin by completing a thorough consultation form, during which we explore your current position, what’s happened in your past, where you want to get to and what you want from your treatments....
