At Inner Sanctuary in Colchester we work with the body, using Kinesiology as a tool, to achieve that seemingly elusive goal of health and happiness. When you feel dis-empowered and your life feels like it running you, rather then you running it, most would describe themselves as feeling stressed of some description.

Stress is the biggest cause of sickness with the UK (HSE). Stress may not always be the term on the sickness note, but it is usually the underlying cause. It’s something that causes a state of strain or tension, as in “the stresses and strains of everyday life”.

Some signs of stresses and strains in the life you are living:

  • Physical: pain, body discomfort, weakness and illness.
  • Emotional: depression, anxiety, feelings of powerlessness, helplessness, not feeling good enough, negative self-talk and image.
  • Spiritual: feeling disconnected from yourself, other people and your environment,

How To Take Time Out

If you gave yourself as much attention as you give family, friends, colleagues, work, and pets you would make sure that you treated yourself to a daily dose of Me Time! People have a tendency to fill everything up to capacity, whether that be time, diaries or just our minds thinking about everything we need to do, must do, or should do. The result is we end up frantic, when what we should be doing is scheduling in some time out. Taking time out needs to be simple: A walk Meditating Sitting in the sun These activities can be done anywhere, any time, with no preparation, and they are FREE!   The benefits of a bit of Me Time are multiple: Creates the space for us to process our thoughts and experiences Helps us to know what to let go of Creates space for ideas and energy to grow Incredibly cathartic and beneficial   How to make some Me Time: As creatures of habit, well practiced in filling up time with the “needs”, “musts” and “shoulds”, it makes perfect sense for us to schedule in our Time Out activities. The Importance Of Taking Time Out

Caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Feeling anxious, tired and like life is running you rather than you running your life? This is exactly how I was feeling before I took a well-earned break and practised the importance of taking time out. It’s not called a well-earned break for no reason. If you are someone that strives for achievement, has a passion for reaching goals, and generally likes to make the most of life – chances are that you forget to take a rest every now and then. For me, life had been incredibly hectic, it had been a full and challenging year both personally and professionally, and I felt like I needed time to catch up with myself and take some time out.   My symptoms: I was anxious and tired. My desires: I wanted time to think, reconnect and catch up with myself. My aim: I wanted to create space to reflect, to stop running on autopilot. My solution: A well-earned break! A holiday in Sicily.   There were a number of themes that emerged from the trip:  Rejuvenation – Quiet time, music, dancing, looking after the body with organic food and great sleep. These activities helped rejuvenate my mind, body and soul. Connectivity – Connecting with myself by coming out of my headspace and going into my heart, I was able to let go of my anxieties.
